Treasure the Passover Lamb

It is Holy Week or Passion Week, a time when we remember Jesus’ final week when he went to cross, the grave, and rose again on that first Easter Sunday. For our Faith Talk Guide this week, we will actually be posting shorter daily guides throughout the week to help us reflect on Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection. So, if you are not already engaged in a Passion Week devotional with your family or as an individual, we invite you to join us in using these guides!

Each will include a reading from Mark 14–16, a reading from a children’s Bible, a reflection, and a prayer. We hope and pray that these aid you in remembering our Lord’s life, death, and resurrection this week!

Read: Mark 14:1–21

For younger children consider reading, “A Woman to Be Remembered” in The Biggest Story Bible Storybook (pages 404-407).

Reflect

Jesus is our Passover Lamb. He came to give his life as a sacrifice for our sin that we might know God’s forgiveness. What is the proper response to the reality of who Jesus is? We get a glimpse of a right response in the woman who pours her expensive perfume upon Jesus’s head. She demonstrates with her lavish action that she values Jesus above all. As we go about this week and our lives, let us treasure Jesus, our Lord and Passover Lamb, above all.

Reflection Questions:

1. What do these verses teach us about Jesus?

2. What do they teach us about our response to Jesus?

Pray

Lord, we pray that our love for Jesus would abound more and more as we experience his love afresh today. He is our Passover Lamb, the Lamb who was slain and is worthy of all glory and praise. We ask that you would so move our hearts to treasure him above all, that we would count all other things as loss compared to the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus our Lord. Help us to live this way for your glory and praise. Amen. (Phil 1:9; 3:8; Rev 5:12).
